Step 1: Gather Your Documents

You’ll need a few important things before you head to your appointment:

Proof of U.S. Citizenship
A certified birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or a previously issued U.S. passport.
Proof of Identity
A valid government-issued photo ID (like your driver’s license). If your name has changed, bring documentation for that too (like a marriage certificate).
Photocopies of Both
Black-and-white, single-sided copies of the front and back of both documents.

Step 2: Get a Passport Photo Taken

This part’s easy—just make sure it meets the official requirements:

2x2 inches
Taken within the last 6 months
White or off-white background
No glasses, hats, filters, or heavy editing
